We’re no longer pedestrians! Well, we’re not forced to be, anyway. Yesterday we took inventory on a 1996 Land Cruiser Troopcarrier HZJ75RV. We’re ready to hit the road immediately but, alas, we have to get some stuff together first. Camping equipment, nav system, etc. Today we took the first step and got a camping stove system.
We got the Land Cruiser from a nice couple in one of Sydney’s suburbs. It has 355,000km on it but runs great and an NRMA inspection didn’t turn up anything bad on the important bits. And it even has fly screens on the windows!
Thus, the biggest stress factor is over and everything from here on is smooth sailing. Monique said the Land Cruiser needs a name and she wouldn’t let me use “Pimp” so we figured “Biggie” would be good. Because, frankly, this thing is really big. None of this sissy GLX stuff. Biggie only has the front seats, has dual diesel tanks, dual batteries, a winch, and a ton of space for all our stuff. Frikkin’ cool. -jp
Seit gestern sind wir stolze Besitzer eines supergeilen Toyota Landcruiser! Wir sind beide so happy und stolz darauf, dass wir am liebsten gleich losdüsen würden Australien zu erkunden. Doch zuvor haben wir noch einiges vorzubereiten und haben heute bereits damit begonnen und einen Campingkocher gekauft.
Wir haben unseren 4WD (Allradantrieb), wie man dieses Auto hier nennt, von einem sehr netten Päarchen hier in Sydney gekauft. Er ist 1996iger Baujahr und hat 355.000km runter, was für ein solches Auto wohl völlig ok ist – na lassen wir uns mal überraschen! Nein Scherz, wir haben ihn zur Inspektion gebracht, was uns schlappe 200 AUD gekostet hat und die Werkstatt hat ihn für gut befunden. Somit haben wir uns für unser neues Vehicle entschieden und ihn auf den Namen “Biggie” getauft, was nicht zuletzt an seiner Größe liegt!
