In certain parts of Northern Territory you see these signs laying out the penalties for having alcohol or pornography. Again, like Cape York, this is government mandated stupidity because the locals, who apparently can’t be trusted, can just go to a roadhouse and buy the stuff.
Not only that but you can’t get unleaded gas in NT either. They replaced it with low aroma unleaded-like gas called Opal which will blow your head gasket up if you drive a Mitsubishi.

You like history and information about the town which is great, but Ian mentioned to me when he read this, that in the NT near the dry communities, the road houses refuse alcohol sales to part or full aborigines. Thought you might like to know.
