The Navy Pier

Finally!  Grey nurse sharks!  Finally!  Too bad the visibility was not so good.  Bad viz + dark = bad photos.  At least we have some of Monique’s very good nudibranch photos to fall back on.  Honestly, it was just really exciting just to see the critically endangered grey nurses.

Oh yeah, history.  The Navy Pier was originally (and is still occasionally) used to unload the diesel needed to power the huge communications system at the navy base in Exmouth.  It puts out enough power to provide electricity to every home in Western Australia. -jp

 

Der Navy Pier ist der Pier der Kriegsmarine. Es waren eigentlich recht gruselige Tauchgänge, zumindest der 1. Beim 2. Tauchgang hatten man sich an den Anblick der ganzen Gestellbalken des Piers gewöhnt, doch beim 1. Tauchgang, war das schon etwas gewöhnungebedüftig. Was ich aber betonen möchte, wir haben eine unglaublich große Vielfalt an Fischen gesehen. Von Schwärmen von Tunfischen, über Weißspitzenriffhaie, Grey Nurse Sharks, Skorpionfische, Pufferfische, Boxfische und natürlich Nudibranchs. -mk
