The following galleries all are galleries of photos taken by our official photographer. He really worked to get the shots he needed, running this way and that. At one point he was standing knee deep in the water in his nice pants.

The wedding itself was fantastic. The weather had cleared up and there was no damage to any of the villa’s buildings. The ceremony started after everyone arrived and had their welcome drinks. We had fans made and hand painted in Chiang Mai as a present for all of the women (but I think some of the guys made off with a couple as well). The ceremony went well except for the world’s worst German translator who we later found out wasn’t German and wasn’t a translator. But despite that clown, it all went well with the water as a backdrop.
After the ceremony we took pictures on the beach, signed the official Thai wedding certificates with the official guy from Surat Thani, and then dinner, dancing, cake, and drinks! It went well and we’re extremely happy that so many people could be there with us. – jp

In den folgenden Gallerien findet ihr alle Fotos von unserem offiziellen Fotografen. Er war echt krass und hat alles getan um das perfekte Foto zu schiessen. Während der Zeremonie stand er aufeinmal knietief im Wasser mit seinen guten langen Anzughosen.

Die Hochzeit war unbeschreiblich schoen. Meine Eltern, ich und zwei meiner Freundinnen, Nina und Sabine, sind gleich am Morgen in der Villa angereist um Haare und Makeup gemacht zu bekommen und noch einiges in der Villa vorzubereiten, bevor die Gaeste anreisten.

Die Faraway Hochzeitsvilla ist direkt am Strand von Nikki Beach in Koh Samui. Eine kleine gepflegte Villa mit schoenem Garten, einer Bar, Tanzflaeche und Innenräume für Vorbereitung und Essenszubereitung.

Während Nina und ich gestylt wurden, sind die Gäste angekommen und zur Einstimmung gab es ein Willkommensgetränk und eine traditionelle Longdrum Prozession, wo der Braeutigam und sein Trauzeuge eine kleine Tanzeinlage darbieten durften. Danach haben alle Gaeste am Strand Platz genommen und auf die Braut, mich , gewartet.

Die Zeremonie am Strand, mit Meeresrauschen im Hintergrund, war einfach unglaublich schoen. Es gab ein kleines Problem mit unserem Übersetzer, aber darüber will ich gar nicht lange reden. Nach der Zeremonie wurde gratuliert und gequatscht und dann gab es auch schon die Fotos am Strand. Ich weiss nicht wie lange wir am Strand waren und wieviele Fotos gemacht wurden, aber danach tat mir mein Kiefer vom ständigen lächeln weh

Im Anschluss an die Fotos, oder irgendwann zwischendrin, kam der offizielle Beamte von Surat Thani für die Unterschriften der Papiere zur Eheschliessung. Da wurde es dann wahrhaftig ernst, aber es war ein riesen Vergnügen. Ja, es war witzig, Justin und ich, wir waren irgendwie bei der ganzen Geschichte gar nicht wirklich aufgeregt. Wir waren einfach nur glücklich in den Hafen der Ehe einzukehren.

Nach den Unterschriften gab es mehr Fotos, dann bissl anstossen und ein super leckeres Abendessen. Anschliessend wurde der Kuchen angeschnitten und zum 1. Tanz aufgerufen. Wir haben eine Flagge gehisst und einen Baum gepflanzt und Glücksballons am Strand steigen lassen, viel getanzt und getrunken und einen unwahrscheinlich schönen Tag mit vielen unseren Freunden und Familie gehabt. Es war so schön, ich würde es immer wieder tun, natürlich nur mit Justin! – mk

Ja, ja, die Jungs haben ja mal vorsichtshalber keine Fotos auf ihrem Junggesellenabschied gemacht Naja, da stehen wir Mädels drüber, wir hatten ne Menge Spass und viele lustige Fotos gibt’s auch davon

Bevor wir uns auf getrennte Wege begangen haben, gab es ein sehr entspanntes erstes Kennenlernen unserer Gäste untereinander. Im Amari Palm Reef Hotel haben wir einen Bereich der Bar gemietet und uns mit leckeren Cocktails auf den Abend eingestimmt. – mk

Our first stop on the trip was an extended stay in Bangkok.  We had to fill out a bunch of paperwork with our embassies and Monique had to pay Zara’s rent for the month.  We met up with Jürgen and Steffi and had our first good sushi in months.  The entire time we were there we were watching the sketchy weather in Samui and hoping it would clear up in a hurry.  Luckily, it did. – jp

Bevor es auf die Hochzeitsinsel Koh Samui ging, gab es noch einiges fuer uns in Bangkok zu erledigen. Zu unserer Ueberraschung dauerten die Besuche unserer Botschaften gar nicht lang und wir konnten die positiven Seiten Bangkok’s geniessen, wie shoppen und lecker Sushi essen.

Waehrend unserer Woche in Bangkok mussten wir mit Bangen miterleben, wie ein schrecklicher Sturm ueber Suedthailand gezogen ist und einiges auf den Insel ueberschwemmt und zerstoert hat. Es war ein kleiner Albtraum, aber wir haben uns nicht zu sehr verrueckt machen lassen und sind immer positiv geblieben, was sich letztendlich als richtig rausgestellt hat, denn das Wetter wurde besser – mk

We went camping in Swan Valley so that we could go to the thing they do at The Maze where you can eat breakfast and be visited by koalas.  It might be geared for kids but I can’t lie: I really enjoyed it.  We also went hiking in a national park nearby where I was set upon by red ants.  Lots of them.  Vicious little bastards. -jp

Today was Australia Day… Monique’s first as an Australian resident!  We went to our friends Taz and Kaylee’s place and grilled like good Australians do then came home so we could watch the Fremantle fireworks from our balcony.  The gallery is just the fireworks since the BBQ photos would just be food and beer and girls in bikinis like every other day here. -jp

After the diving we returned to Khao Lak and rented a scooter for a few hours before leaving.  Once we got out of town we saw some tsunami damage that was never fixed.  What a mess.  Even the trees, which must have been 10 meters tall, were wrecked right up to the tops.  They were just the 10 meter high stumps.  Also, we went out to where police boat 813 was located.  During the tsunami it was stationed off the coast of Khao Lak.  The wave washed it 2 kilometers inland.  -jp

Nachdem wir wieder zurueck in Khao Lak waren, haben wir uns ein Moped gemietet. Auf unserer Erkundungstour sind wir auch an einigen vom Tsunami zerstoerten Anlagen vorbeigekommen, die noch nicht bereinigt waren. Ganz schoen krass und unfassbar zugleich. Das Meer sieht jetzt so friedlich aus. Man kann gar nicht glauben, dass da sowas passiert ist. Ausserdem sind wir zu dem Polizeiboot gefahren, was von der Welle 2 Kilometer ins Inland getragen wurde. – mk

On the last day I got the 30d running again. Huzzah!  On that day we saw more mantas (which were promptly chased off by the dickhead videographer from another boat) and did a wreck dive.  That wreck was covered, I mean COVERED, in scorpionfish. Also one of the mantas we saw had a cheek bitten off, probably by a shark.

The eel in 8109 is a honeycomb eel.  I think he looks pretty darn cool.  In 8117, the two fish are called crocodile fish.  In 8119, that’s a stone fish.  Better camo than the scorpionfish and a good deal more poisonous.  In trying to get that shot of him I almost put my knee down on a couple of scorpionfish.  Do you see the one in photo 8122?  How about the crab?

In 8123, I wanted a shot of that huge scorpionfish and then I noticed his buddy next to him.  What you don’t see in the photo is the one next to that one.  And the next one.  7 total along that railing.  Yeesh.

On the G9 we have a good selection of nudibranchs and a dancing shrimp in 7910 as well as a banded coral shrimp 7915. No wreck photos because Monique didn’t like it one bit.  Something about scorpionfish… -jp

Am vierten und letzten Tag haben wir nochmal Manta Rochen gesehen. Wahnsinn!! Obwohl eine Kameratyp von nem anderen Tauchboot immer direkt auf die Mantas zugeschwommen ist und diese dadurch natuerlich gleich in die andere Richtung abgebogen sind. So ein Depp!!

Der letzte Tauchgang war an einem Schiffswrack. Oh man, wenn mich jemand fragt, ob ich dort nochmal tauchen will, sag ich definitiv NEIN! Ich bin doch kein Selbstmoerder! Dort waren ungelogen alle paar Meter ein anderer Fisch der dich haette umbringen koennen. Mutti keine Angst, normalerweise ist das nicht so beim tauchen! Die Skorpionfische waren ueberall und dann kam noch ein dicker fetter Steinfisch dazu, wenn der dich erwischt, schaffst du es glaub ich nicht mal aufzutauchen :-O Naja, aber wie gesagt, nix ANFASSEN! Ich hab es nicht genossen, obwohl wir wirklich viele unterschiedlich Fische gesehen haben. Die Jungs fanden es natürlich allesamt super cool. Aber Jungs muessen ja auch immer hart sein -mk

On the 3rd day the 30d was stuffed so we just have G9 photos.  These contain more nudibranchs, more clownfish, and more me.  In 7821 and 7869 you can see scorpionfish.  These are poisonous and well camouflaged.  Bad combo.  in 7824 and 7825 you can see a mantis shrimp as it hauls ass across the rock.  They look cute and kind of silly but they have an arm hidden away that can break glass.  As in the glass of the camera, your mask, or an aquarium.  Seriously.

Check out the little crab in 7875, 7878, and especially 7881.  He was chilling in the anemone when Monique started harassing him.  In 7881 he’d had enough and tried to get a good spot to take a swipe at her. -jp

Am dritten Tauchtag habe nur ich Fotos mit der G9 gemacht. Was es zu sehen gibt sind Nudibranchs (natuerlich), Clownfische (Nemofisch) und Justin. Im Foto 7821 und 7869 ist ein Scorpionfisch zu sehen. Diese sind supergut getarnt und richtig boese giftig. Was natuerlich eine schlechte Kombination ist. Aber als guter Taucher fasst man ja bekanntlich nix an, gell Japaner! ;-> Auf dem Foto 7824 und 7825 ist wieder ein Mantis Shrimp zu sehen. Die sind wunderschoen und haben wie kleine Neonfarbene Federn am Ende ihres Koerper, aber davon darf man sich nicht taeuschen lassen, denn diese hinterlistigen Kerlchen haben einen versteckten Arm an ihrem Kopf (oder so) mit dem sie Glas zerschlagen koennen. Das heisst, wenn ihr denen mit eurer Kamera oder gar eurer Tauchmaske zu nahe kommt, koennen sie diese mit einem Schlag zerschlagen. Ehrlich!

Auf den Fotos 7875, 7878 and 7881 habe ich versucht Fotos von einer kleinen Krabbe zu machen, die auf einer Anemone gesessen hat. Der hat das so gar nicht gefallen und die kam dann ganz agressive auf mich zu, was natuerlich recht gut war um ein Foto von ihr zu schiessen. -mk

Big diving day!  The most impressive things we saw were an octopus getting harassed by a triggerfish (this is why it’s spreading out and turning white in 30d photos 7949 through 7960) and the first mantas we’ve ever seen while in the water.  In photo 7990 our divemaster, Tuk, is pretending to be a manta. He swore up and down that it makes them come closer.  Then in photo 7991 he changed his mind and decided to ignore the ray.

Also in photo 7972 there’s a huge puffer fish wearing a cleaner fish on his head like a mohawk.

On the G9 Monique got some photos of topside on the boat and nudibranchs.  If you look closely in the G9 gallery at photos 7776 and 7778, at the top of the crack in the rock there are a couple of dancing shrimp and at the bottom of the crack if you look closely you can see a clear shrimp poking out of the rock. -jp

Der zweiter Tag auf dem Tauchboot war super, denn wir haben endlich die lang ersehnten Manta Rochen gesehen. Es ist so umwerfend und man bekommt bauchkribbeln, wenn man diese Rochen zum ersten mal durch das Wasser gleiten sieht! Justin hat superschoene Fotos mit der 30d von den Mantas gemacht und ich habe ein paar auf dem Deck vom Boot sowie von Dancing Shrimps und einem Glas Shrimp gemacht (Foto 7776 und 7778). -mk
